After working for Quality Assurance for years, I crossed the isle and went to work for manufacturing as a manufacturing engineer. This was an interesting job. The manufacturing engineer took the engineering drawing and decided on the tooling, planning, and procedures to produce the assembly.
After Rockwell I went to Northrop Grummann as a Quality Engineer specializing in computer inspection. I began writing 3D inspection programs for coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Later I began manager of the Computer Inspection department. Northrop was a great place to work.
Rockwell International, Space Division was my first "real" job immediately after graduation. My job was to modernize the inspection department in the machine shop using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and computer aided design (CAD). The Space Division felt a lot like a college campus.
